An introduction to
Zanjan is the capital of Zanjan province in the northwest of Iran located in a mountainous area with the height of 1663 meters above the sea level. There are 467,000 inhabitants in the city of Zanjan. The strategic location of Zanjan connects the central part bof Iran to the northwest of Iran. The climate diversity of this city has resulted in a four season area with ever green sceneries convenient for eco-tourism. Zanjan is known for its handicrafts such as knives, traditional sandals called charoogh and malileh -made with silver wires-, Glimbafi –Kilim weraving-, jajimbafi and carpet wavering.
The Dome of Soltaniyeh as the UNESCO site in the city of Soltaniyeh, a monument of 14th century, is the Mausoleum of the Mongol ruler Il-khan Oljaito, also known as Muhammad Khodabandeh which has made Zanjan a tourist destination for culture-oriented visitors.
